- Hozam Ramzy's CD El Amar - featuring Mohsen Allaam on Accordion. Quarter tone accordion that is! The music is Baladi, i.e. the type of music that is used for belly dancing.
- Idi Amin plays or played accordion, and was interviewed/recorded (by BBC World Service?) once. A video of Idi Amin playing accordion. His accordion playing also provides the score for Babette Schroeder's documentary General Idi Amin Dada

- The Boeremuziekklub aims to collect, preserve and enhanceme Traditional Boer Music. It was previously founded as the "Concertina club of South Africa" -- the concertina is the main instrument of Boer Music.
- Culture Musical Club is the largest and one of the most prolific orchestras of Zanzibar. They play taraab music. The collaborated with Taj Mahal on the 2005 album Mkutano Meets the Culture Musical Club of Zanzibar (with Rajab Suleiman, Said Mwinyi and Taimur Rukun on accordion); the line up for the 2007/2008 tour included Taimur Rukun and Maulidi Haj on accordion.

- The Sound of Taraab is a band from New York, with Ismail Butera on accordion and vocals, that plays music from Zanzibar and other areas of Eastern Africa.
- Sheikh Taha is a leading quarter tone accordionists from Egypt, whose career spans some 5 decades. He plays in or has played in Layali El Sharq Ensemble, with Hossam Ramzy and with Guy Shalom.
- Tarika is Madagascar's most successful musical export. Donné plays melodeon, amongst others.
